Our Media Center PC is dead...

Our old PC that I rigged up to the TV has gone and died. We were using it as a media center and it was recording our shows for us. We were also loading our CDs on it so that we could use it for entertaining. Well, the other day after Allison was done using it she noticed that it went to a blue screen. I came home and tried to start it a couple of times and it wouldn't start. I couldn't get in with a keyboard and reboot the system. It is dead.

Well, we got used to the ease of having a media center PC in or living room so I did some searching online and found PC Kits that I could put together to make a new computer. The website is called Easy AS My PC. Their kits have everything I would need to build a computer. Maybe this would be the solution to our Media Center void. I'm pretty sure I could build a PC easily, I've done many installations so a complete build shouldn't be all that tough. Easy AS My PC also give you plain English instructions that are illustrated. What could be easier, all I need is a screwdriver and a PC kit.

Flatwater Tech is dead...

I have been struggling with the idea of killing off one of my blogs. The blog is Flatwater Tech. It was originally set up as an online bookstore of mine. However it became a blog in its own right. But I've been trying to maintain two tech blogs at the same time and it just isn't working.

So Flatwater Tech is no more, the posts and focus of that blog will be absorbed into this blog. Since I like to talk about gadgets on Wired Kayaker (It is a tech blog after all and an outdoors blog) I find the marriage of the two blogs perfect. This is all part of my major refocus on quality. Quality posts for you on this blog as well as quality on my other main blogs. The weak links are being severed and the strong blogs are being given more attention.

The next step, move this blog off of blogger and onto its own domain.

Win a Wii and Charter Internet for Life...

In an effort to turn this blog into my primary one for technology as well as gadgets and kayaking I've got to tell you about this great contest. So if you would like to win a Wii, the hardest to find gaming system out there then Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™!.

What you can do is register your e-mail address for a chance to win this Nintendo Wii. The Wii includes: a Nintendo Wii Console, Wii Stand, 5 Sports games ( Boxing, Baseball, Tennis, Golf and bowling), 1 Remote Controller, 1 Nunchuk Controller, 1 Sensor Bar, 1 Wii AC Adapter, 1 Wii AV Cable. You are ready to play, no other equipment needed.

But you can also win Charter High Speed Internet for life. To do that you need to qualify by zip code and you must be in a Charter serviceable area. So that means that only visitors able to receive Charter High-Speed® Internet services at their residence will qualify to bid. Bids start at $10. So you could possibily get High Speed Internet for life for a very low price. Charter has no idea how much this will go for but there is no reserve so it could go for very very low.

I am not in a Charter area or else it would be a great chance at getting High Speed Internet for life plus a Nintendo Wii wouldn't be too shabby either. Those things are near impossible to find. I'm glad I already have mine.

Underwater Test Video

I bought a Sanyo EC1 digital Video Camera and I love it so far. There are a few things that bug me like there not being a lens cap as well as the buttons being so small. However it rocks for taking photos and videos. The underwater capabilities are very cool too. Check out this review video I made.

Mad Gringo = Vacation

I started my vacation this past Friday. When I packed for my trip the most important things that I wanted to take with me were my Mad Gringo Hawaiian shirts, hat and flip flops. I bought all of my shirts (5 of them) and the Mad Gringo sent me a baseball hat and a pair of flip flops. I am not big on flip flops because I am afraid to step on something and won't know it because of my Neuroupathy. I have not had bare feet in a long time but I tried out the flip flops.

Mad Feet

I really like the design of them because they have the great Mad Gringo logo on them. They are also pretty basic and easy to wear as well. Comfortable and great for the beach. The baseball hat is a light green one with a white Mad Gringo logo on it. I like that one much better than the blue one that I bought Allison.

I'm on Vacation Gear

I love how relaxed I feel in my Mad Gringo gear.

This isn't a sponsored post, just wanted to let you know about a great place online to get some awesome clothing and also to learn about taking life at a slower pace.
